Dr Amelia Peterson crossed from school and public-service reform into business education, helping the London Interdisciplinary School rethink what leaders need to learn now.
Amelia Peterson’s work begins with an awkward question for any institution: what is it actually for?
That question took her through teaching, education policy and a PhD at Harvard, and into work with schools, governments and organisations including Innovation Unit.
Much of that career focused on the gap between the stated purpose of an education system and the experience it creates in practice.
Then the London Interdisciplinary School presented the same problem in a different setting.
What if the traditional MBA – a qualification designed to prepare people to lead organisations – was still organised around categories that no longer matched the problems leaders were facing?
Its MBA is built around interconnected shifts including intelligence, energy, ecosystems, trust, complexity and longevity.
Peterson joined as Programme Director to turn that proposition into an educational experience that works.
She moved from reforming schools to reforming management education.
The institution changed. The challenge she brings to it did not.
