Lord Jason Stockwood has moved between technology, football, community renewal and government, bringing the same question to each: what should growth actually be for?
Jason Stockwood had the kind of technology career that could easily have become the whole story. He led Simply Business, held senior roles across Match.com, Skyscanner and lastminute.com, and spent years inside some of Britain’s fastest-moving digital businesses.
But his interests kept pulling him beyond the boardroom.
He co-founded Our Future to work with local leaders on the long-term renewal of post-industrial towns. Through Grimsby Town Football Club, he became involved in the relationship between sport, place and community. In Reboot, he questioned some of the assumptions businesses make about leadership and success.
Then, in 2025, he crossed into government as Minister of State for Investment across the Department for Business and Trade and HM Treasury.
The roles look different. The question connecting them is not: how can business, capital and leadership create value that reaches further than the balance sheet?
