Jodie Eastwood has spent her career doing something institutions often struggle to do for themselves: connecting them.
Her work has crossed the British Library, universities, business organisations and cultural institutions, with partnerships as the consistent thread.
The Knowledge Quarter makes that idea physical.
Within roughly a mile of King’s Cross sit organisations spanning research, culture, science and technology – from the British Library and UCL to the Francis Crick Institute and Google. More recently, major AI companies have also clustered in the area.
No single organisation created that concentration.
That is partly the point.
Eastwood’s work asks us to think about innovation not simply as something happening inside a laboratory or company, but as something shaped by what sits around it.
Proximity makes encounters easier. People move between organisations. Ideas cross institutional boundaries.
She has not left partnership-building behind. She has turned it into a form of infrastructure.
