How David Pearl left their lane.

From opera and broadcasting to Pearlworks and Street Wisdom, David Pearl has spent decades turning creativity into a practical tool for change.

David Pearl made his professional singing debut at nine, alongside Plácido Domingo at the Royal Opera House.

He went on to study at Cambridge, spent time writing for Stanley Kubrick, presented The Score on BBC2 and co-founded Opera Circus, bringing opera, theatre and physical performance together in ways that resisted the usual categories.

Then business came calling.

In the mid-1990s, a global firm asked Pearl to create a development experience for 1,500 people. He approached it with the instincts of a performer rather than a management consultant, thinking about attention, energy, story and what makes a room move together.

It opened up an entirely new career.

Through Lively Arts and later Pearlworks, Pearl began applying ideas developed on stage to high-stakes meetings and leadership teams. Today, he describes himself as a creative confidante to leaders around the world, designing experiences intended not simply to communicate a decision but to help people think and act differently.

Then he took the idea beyond the boardroom too.

In 2013, Pearl founded Street Wisdom, turning ordinary streets into spaces for reflection, problem-solving and creative thinking. The volunteer-led movement has since reached more than 90 countries.

Across opera stages, boardrooms and city streets, the setting keeps changing. The principle does not.

Pearl’s career is built around the idea that creativity is not something reserved for creative people. It is a way of paying attention differently when the familiar answer is no longer enough.
