Jonathan Laramy left customer service in 2025 to teach himself AI filmmaking – and built Chloe VS History.
Jonathan Laramy did not come to filmmaking through film school.
He studied psychology at Bournemouth University and later worked in customer service, spending his spare time experimenting with generative AI and building social channels around a subject he had always loved: history.
Then, in June 2025, he quit his job to pursue it full-time.
Majestic Studios grew out of those experiments, using AI to turn historical source material into moving scenes. But the breakthrough came with a different idea.
Chloe VS History puts an AI-generated modern-day vlogger inside historical moments. She boards the Titanic, walks through Pompeii and visits ancient civilisations, speaking to the audience in the language of contemporary social media rather than the traditional documentary.
The technology makes the format possible. Laramy is clear that it is not what makes it work.
His films can take weeks to produce, with repeated generation and editing needed to get individual scenes right. His argument is that the advantage lies in the choices around the technology: the story, the character, the timing and the understanding of what an audience will actually want to watch.
In 2026, Chloe VS History was named AI Creator of the Year at the WIBA Awards in Cannes; the first year the awards recognised an AI-created influencer.
Laramy taught himself the tools because he wanted to make history feel closer.
What he ended up demonstrating was something broader: new technology can change not just how stories are produced, but who gets to produce them.
